The past couple of weeks, while Brynlee "jabbers" we've started to pick out a few key sounds including: "mama" and "dada". She won't do it on demand, only on her terms. Either way, its so wonderful to hear her sputter out a "mama" now and then. Nolan's mom this weekend was now working on getting her to say "nana" next.
Bath time has become much more interesting now that she is sitting up. We got out some of her bath toys that she got at showers, and she loves sitting in the tub splashing and dumping water out of her toys. Depending on what time she wakes up in the morning, we let her come up and play in our room while we get ready. I knew it was only a matter of time before she discovered the door stopper.
This past weekend was a very busy one. Because of how busy it was, the dogs went to a kennel for the first time since we've had them (they usually go stay at their 'grandpa's house). They are a little worn out tonight now that we are all back home. The lady said they did fine, but I can just picture it: Annie pacing back and forth and Pais crying because she thought we abandoned her. We got into Emporia Friday night at halftime of the homecoming football game. Brynlee was in awe of everything going on at the game and despite it being past her bedtime did a great job. Saturday morning we woke up to start our journey to Dodge City for my friend Chelsy's wedding. She slept from Emporia to Hutch, and in Hutch we took a quick tour of the Cosmosphere just to get Brynlee out of the car for a bit and give her a bottle.
She rode in her stroller the whole time and there was plenty to look at to keep her entertained. We made it to Dodge just in time for the wedding. Chelsy made a beautiful bride, and Brynlee did a great job during the wedding and reception. Nolan and i chose to drive back to Emporia that night so that Brynlee would be sleeping the whole time. By the time we picked up the dogs today and got home, we had driven close to 700 miles this weekend!
Long weekend, but worth it. One busy October weekend down, three more to go.
